ESTEE LAUDER COMPANIES
Breast Cancer is one of the most common causes of cancer-related deaths of women in Australia and the rest of the world.
On Thursday 7 October profit from all purchases in all David Jones stores nationally will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Because when it comes to the fight against breast cancer, we're all in this together.
When Washington Post Fashion Editor, Nina Hyde, was diagnosed with breast cancer, she asked her dear friend Ralph Lauren for an idea that would bring attention to the disease.
After her death in 1994, Ralph Lauren kept his promise. He launched the very first FTBC collection at New York Fashion Week.
A team of supermodels hit the runway in t-shirts with the now recognised bulls eye logo printed on them. Today the FTBC charity, an initiative of the CFDA Foundation, is active in over 10 countries.

MOTHER'S DAY CLASSIC
For more than a decade, the Mother's Day Classic fun run and walk has provided communities with a great way to celebrate Mother's Day and raise funds for breast cancer research. See you on May 8th 2011!
Paint the Town Pink
This October Breast Cancer Campaign UK will be returning to York and Reading to Paint the Town Pink!
They're bursting with lots of ideas for how to make Paint the Town Pink even bigger and better in 2010 but they cannot do it without the support of volunteers in each area. It's vital they build on the success of last year's initiative to enable breast cancer foundation to continue funding breast cancer research for the benefit of patients worldwide.
They're therefore calling on people in Reading and York to join Team Pink and help us make Paint the Town Pink a huge success.
Get involved during September and October by:
Distributing posters and leaflets to publicise the intitative
Collecting at locations across each city
Distributing pink ribbon pins to shops and local businesses
Helping out at any Paint the Town Pink events throughout the month
To join Team Pink email volunteer@breastcancercampaig n.org or call 020 7749 3708 and they will send you full details of the dates and times of each activitiy as soon as we have them.
Even an hour of your time can make a real difference.
The Avon Breast Cancer Crusade
The Avon Breast Cancer Crusade was launched in 1992 as a small pioneering program in the U.K.
Avon in the U.S. adopted the Crusade the following year. THE ESTEE LAUDER COMPANIES "PLEDGES" TO REACH DIGITAL AUDIENCES WITH ITS 2010 BREAST CANCER AWARENESS CAMPAIGN
BLOOMINGDALE'S 59TH STREET TO HOST KICK-OFF EVENT
NEW YORK, NY, SEPTEMBER 29, 2010 - The image of a woman's hand over her breast, is the new signature image of The Estee Lauder Companies 2010 Breast Cancer Awareness (BCA) Campaign, representing how women can take control of their breast health to "Connect. Communicate. Conquer. Prevent Breast Cancer One Woman At A Time."
When it came to translating this effort to social media, the Company realized there was also a powerful, second idea implicit in a hand across the chest: the idea of taking a pledge - in this case, a pledge to spread the life-saving message of breast cancer awareness, one woman (or man) at a time.
To bring this "BCA Pledge" campaign to life, The Estee Lauder Companies invited influential bloggers to New York City to be photographed by world renowned photographer John Midgley, whereby each blogger recreated this signature visual to reflect their personal passion for this cause.
Participating bloggers include: Jane Cuoto, Sharon Cuoto and Audrey McClelland (Mom Generations); Gala Darling (Gala Darling); Laura Kenny (AOL StyleList); Wendy Lam (Nitrolicious); Peter Shankman (Shankman); Amanda Steinberg (DailyWorth); Rachel Sklar (mediaITE); Renee Styler (Good Enough Mother) and Annie Tomlin (Bella Sugar).
During October's Breast Cancer Awareness Month, these images will be used to inspire individuals the world over to take their own BCA pledge to support breast cancer awareness (i.e., to get a mammogram if you are over 40) and share their pledge with at least one person, encouraging them todo the same.
The BCA Pledge campaign will be featured across a variety of online destinations, including over a dozen Estee Lauder Companies brand websites, Facebook pages, on blogs (including those of the participating bloggers) and on the campaign's site: www.bcapledge.org. The campaign will also have its own Facebook page (facebook.com/bcapledge), Twitter channel (@BCAPledge) and YouTube channel.
A celebratory event at Bloomingdale's 59th Street store in New York will occur on September 29, with The BCA Campaign chairs Evelyn H. Lauder, Senior Corporate Vice President of The Estee Lauder Companies and Elizabeth Hurley, Estee Lauder brand and BCA Campaign Spokesmodel. Attendees of the event will be encouraged to start the conversation during the event via Twitter (Hashtag: #elcbca) and create individual video pledges. The best pledges will be shared on The Estee Lauder Companies BCA channel on YouTube. One can also show support by purchasing Pink Ribbon products from The Estee Lauder Companies highly sought after brands, to raise awareness or help raise funds for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).
Online users will also have the option of donating funds at checkout to BCRF.

On a personal note, my mum is a breast cancer survivor - good on her. It was a difficult process, but she lived through it with a lot of love around her. I like this advert from MB.
