Hyde Park will be transformed into an interactive art exhibition featuring a giant outdoor movie screen, a pop up gallery, a large Rabbit installation, craft workshops, roving bands and guided tours.
Hyde Park will get its art makeover from September 24-26 as part of Art & About Sydney 2010 ArtPark.
Appealing to the inner artist in all of us, ArtPark is part of the City of Sydney's ninth annual public art festival Art & About Sydney 2010, which brings four weeks of free, fun and engaging exhibitions, installations and performances.
Events taking place at ArtPark include:
Schools' Day
Date: Friday 24 September
Time: 10am - 6pm
Venue: Hyde Park North
Perfect for school art and design students, join free guided tours of Art & About Sydney 2010 events including Sydney Life, The Banner Gallery, The Bike Bike and Sydney Statues: Project! Teachers and students can also watch free art films, video art and documentaries throughout the day on the ArtPark big screen, or learn about green living at the Live Green House, and engage with art in a pop up gallery.
Crafternoon with Object Gallery
Date: Saturday 25 & Sunday 26 September
Time: 11am - 3pm
Venue: Hyde Park North
Work on your found and recycled materials crafting pieces alongside artists Denise Litchfield, members of Knitty, Gritty and Loopy, Craft Cartel and Reef Knot at a workshop hosted by the Object Gallery.
Live Green House
Date: Friday 24 - Sunday 26 September
Time: 10am - 6pm
Venue: Hyde Park North
The City's Live Green House will be on display for three days providing information on sustainable technology and innovation. The house will host workshops covering topics such as energy, waste and water saving initiatives. The general public are also invited to join in the creation of a large Rabbit installation made from recyclable bottles that will form part of the 2011
Chinese New Year Festival parade.
