AUSTRALIAN FILM FESTIVAL PUTS AUSSIE TALENT ON SHOW
The Australian Film Festival announces that the deadlines for 2012 entries will close later this month.
Submissions are now being accepted for the Feature Film Program (until January 20), Australian Short Film (until January 27) and FutureFilm Screenplay Competitions (until January 20), all part of the Australian Film Festival at The Randwick Ritz from March 7-17, 2012.
Filmmakers from all around the country and Aussies abroad are encouraged to submit their feature flick, screenplay or short film for the chance to be featured during the festival at Randwick's best-loved film hub.
If you've got an Australian feature film and want it showcased to industry professionals and the Aussie public, the Feature Film Program should not be missed and is the perfect way to promote your film onto the national radar. AFF will host a Q & A with the filmmakers post screening.
Traditionally one of the favourites of the festival's closing night, the Australian Short Film Competition will follow the Spot Food & Film Festival (March 11) with streets surrounding the Ritz Cinema closed off to make way for a huge street film, food and wine fair with loads of entertainment.
Australia's best filmmakers pit their short film skills against each other for the title of 'Australia's Best Short Film' they'll even receive a special plaque that can go straight to the pool or dining room at home!
This year, the festival has teamed up with the Australian Writers Guild (AWG) to present the FutureFilm Screenplay Competition (March 13), a celebration of of Australian screenwriting and performance with a $1000 cash prize and inclusion in AWG's Pathways program up for grabs.
A competition for emerging writers from across Australia, five lucky talents will have their script picked and performed by actors of their choice in front of a live audience and judged by heavyweight filmmakers, Pip Karmel, Alice Bell and Blake Ayshford.
