Original Creative Writing: INSITE COMPETITION FOR UNPRODUCED SCREENPLAYS
The Australian Writers' Guild (AWG) and the 2011 BigPond Adelaide Film Festival (BAFF) are calling for entries to the fifth biennial INSITE Competition for Unproduced Feature Screenplays.

INSITE is one of the premier screenwriting competitions in Australia. Since its inception in 2003 at the inaugural Adelaide Film Festival, INSITE has become a spotlight for the Australian film industry, illuminating undiscovered, original and adapted stories that are yet to be produced.

The winner of the inaugural INSITE competition Cut Snake, written by Blake Ayshford, was selected for this year's Berlinale Co-Production Market.

The film is currently in development, to be produced by Michael McMahon with Tony Ayres attached as director.

The 2011 winning screenplay will receive a rehearsed public reading during the 2011 BigPond Adelaide Film Festival, which takes place from 24 February to 6 March. The winning writer will receive travel to Adelaide to participate in rehearsals as well as a cash prize of $2,500.

The public reading will be directed by a leading Australian director and cast with professional actors. Directors in previous years have included Tony Ayres (Home Song Stories), Kriv Stenders (Lucky Country) and Samantha Lang (La'idole) with actors Aden Young, Rhys Muldoon, Ernie Dingo and Leanna Walsman taking part.

Entry to INSITE 2011 is open to all financial members of the AWG and closes 5.00pm Friday 27 August 2010. New members are encouraged to enter with waived joining fees available for INSITE entrants. Full information, entry forms and membership applications are available from www.awg.com.au

The Australian Writers' Guild is the peak professional body for Australia's film, television, theatre, radio and new media writers.

Established in 2002, the BigPond Adelaide Film Festival was listed in Variety magazine's list of '50 Unmissable Film Festivals' and is widely perceived as Australia's premiere film event. BAFF celebrates contemporary screen culture, presenting an innovative program of screenings, world premieres and special events that attract film lovers and film industry players from across the country and the world.
