Original Creative Writing: Honour
Sydney Theatre Company and Allens Arthur Robinson present

Honour
by Joanna Murray-Smith

17 April to 29 May (season extended).

Opens Thursday 22 April at 8pm.
Drama Theatre, Sydney Opera House.

Followed by tour to Canberra Theatre Centre from 9 June 2010

Sydney Theatre Company presents Honour, Joanna Murray-Smith's acclaimed dissection of a marriage, which since its premiere in 1995 has become something of a modern Australian classic winning over audiences in London's West End and on Broadway.

Lee Lewis directs a stellar cast comprised of Paula Arundell, Wendy Hughes, Yael Stone and William Zappa at the Drama Theatre, Sydney Opera House from 17 April (opening 22 April).

The production also tours to Canberra.

After thirty-two years of happy marriage, Honor (Wendy Hughes) and George(William Zappa) have achieved it all; a successful marriage, a loving daughter (Yael Stone), a beautiful home. However, the family is to learn of the appalling fragility of love when a beautiful young journalist (Paula Arundell) enters their lives.

Joanna Murray-Smith spins a horribly familiar tale around the breakdown of a long marriage, but as critics and audiences throughout the world have found, her fiercely intelligent work is imbued with freshness and insight, wit

and compassion.

One of Australia's leading playwrights, Joanna Murray-Smith's works include Bombshells, Ninety, Rapture and Female of the Species. Her last production at Sydney Theatre Company was Nightfall in 2000.

Multi-award winning Wendy Hughes was last seen at STC in 2004 in Amigos by David Williamson.

William Zappa, who has performed in Honour previously in a Melbourne Theatre Company production, was also in MTC's Rock 'n' Roll by Tom Stoppard presented by STC in 2008 and in STC's Travesties in 2009.

Yael Stone is familiar to STC audiences for her recent performances in Elling and Frankenstein.
