Kimono and the motifs of Japan
Katsumi Yumioka
Here is a beautiful book that takes us through many kimono designs after breaking down several of the essential icons to be found within the genre.
The introduction is in English. It is less than a full page long, so if you want to know more, this is only going to give you limited information for the rest of the book is mostly in Japanese, ninety-nine percent mostly.
If you are unable to read Japanese you will still derive great pleasure in the contents. There are about five hundred images here of the art and motifs of kimonos.
Splendid photographs of the artwork - each one does have an English title, so you are not completely in the dark if you do not read Japanese.
Much of the time it is the imagery we crave when we are seeking to develop our design skills, so this is a useful book for the designer also.
