Original Creative Writing:
THE BRIGHTSPACE PROJECT, FLY-ON-THE-WALL THEATRE & MIDSUMMA FESTIVAL

Errol Bray's
THE CHOIR

It's that time of year again for the orphanage boys choir. For three years in a row they have won the national competition, breaking hearts with their soaring harmonies. Miss Lawson is determined to win again and she's putting the boys through their paces. Andrew is the most popular of the boys, idolised by the other boys and a clear favourite of Miss Lawson.

But things are changing in the choir. Behind the smiling faces and godlike harmonies, a dark secret holds the choir together. As loyalties shift and revelations unfold, the boys discover the depth to which they have been betrayed and discover to what lengths they will go to protect their brotherhood.

Directed by Robert Chuter, featuring; Mark Taylor, Marc Opitz, Ben Byrne, Leighton Irwin, Christopher Pender, Paul Layton, Vlady T., Todd Morgan & Tim Blencowe

BRIGHTSPACE
1st Floor, 8 Martin Street (off Brighton Road), St Kilda 3182

The BRIGHTSPACE Project is theatre in its pure form. No sets, no costumes, no phony theatrical tricks. This is theatre: Pure. Unencumbered by overpowering sets or distracting tricks in an attempt to be theatrical, The BRIGHTSPACE Project is a 180 degree turnaround from all that has become standard in professional theatre. Utilising nothing more than an exclusive ensemble of actors and a beautiful script, the audience is left with nothing but a great story and the infinite possibility of suggestion in a bright space.

Instigated by Marc Opitz, Josie Waldeton and developed with assistance of Fly-On-The-Wall Theatre and Brightspace

This is truthful and affordable theatre without the trimmings, powerful in its simplicity.
