The Coogee Carols
Sunday 21 December 2008
From 6.30pm at Goldstein Reserve on Coogee Beach
Randwick City Council presents the COOGEE CAROLS at the Goldstein Reserve, Coogee Beach on Sunday 21 December 2008 from 6.30pm-8.30pm. This relaxed and intimate event is in its seventh year and is regarded as one of Sydney’s premier Christmas festival events.
COOGEE CAROLS boast appearances by a diverse range of local celebrities and personalities who, supported by a 12 piece band, will perform the traditional and contemporary carols we all love and enjoy including a special appearance by Santa. This free community event has previously attracted thousands of local residents, families and friends willing to celebrate Christmas Coogee-style.
This year’s COOGEE CAROLS will be Co hosted by Amanda Keller and Ed Phillips and will feature performances by Virginia Gay (All Saints), Justin Smith (Billy Elliot), Brendan Moar (The Lifestyle Channel), Simon Reeve (Sunrise), Josh Quong Tart (Home and Away), Gus Murray (McLeod's Daughters) and Nine Network’s Jaynie Seal. They will also be joined on stage by local country music performer Amber Lawrence, local teenager Katie Nejaim, Bernadette Cogin and many more local celebrities. All performers in the Coogee Carols donate their time in order to support the local community.
Come and experience the incredible atmosphere and beautiful setting of the COOGEE CAROLS and dance and sing along with the talented performers and each other!
All proceeds from the sale of glow sticks, glow products and song books will be donated to the local charity Killara Women's Refuge Inc., situated in Randwick and the only women and childrens refuge in the Eastern Suburbs. They provide crisis accommodation for women with dependant children escaping domestic violence, as well as working intensively with the Aboriginal community in the local area.
