The 450-page, richly-illustrated tome features the work of 100 of the world's most promising new film directors, as selected by 10 esteemed film-festival director curators including Trevor Groth from Sundance, Piers Handling and Cameron Bailey from The Toronto International Film Festival. Offering a unique and truly up-to-date analysis of global contemporary filmmaking.
Whether you are a film professional or a casual moviegoer, TAKE 100 will guide you through today's must-see films and directors not to miss. Some of the 100 chosen directors and their films will be well-known - Sarah Polley (Away from Her), Ari Folman (Waltz with Bashir), Carlos Reygadas (Silent Light), Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck (The Lives of Others) and Tom Ford (A Single Man).
Others are just beginning to burst onto the scene - such as Gianfranco Rossi (Below Sea Level), So Yong Kim (In Between Days), and Takahashi Izumi (The Soup, One Morning).
The 100 directors have all recently come to international attention within the past five years for their contribution to cinema. A Mylar plastic book jacket reproduces the feeling of a reel of photographic film. While the title is foil stamped on the white hardcover book, the plastic jacket displaying an assortment of color film stills representing all 100 directors, is layered over the top.
