The Stonecutter
Camilla Lackberg
Her ability to mix scenes of cosy domesticity with bloodcurdling psychological horror has put Lackberg in league with Scandinavian crime-writing heavyweights Stieg Larsson and Henning Mankell.

The Stonecutter is destined to be this year's Swedish crime phenomenon and the next must-have read for crime-fiction gluttons.

The Stonecutter, the third novel from Swedish crime-writing machine Camilla Lackberg, is a skillful mix of mystery and murder set against the idyllic surrounds of Fjallbacka, Sweden. Building on the enormous cult following the Scandinavian crime fiction genre has already garnered, and now published for the first time in English, The Stonecutter further cements Lackberg's reputation as an expert crime novelist.

About The Stonecutter

The remote resort of Fjallbacka has seen its share of tragedy, though perhaps none worse than that of the little girl found in a fisherman's net. But the post-mortem reveals that this is no case of accidental drowning -

Local detective Patrik Hedstrom has just become a father. It is his grim task to discover who could be behind the methodical murder of a child both he and his partner, Erica, knew well. He knows the real question and answer - lies with why.

What he does not know is how this case will reach into the dark heart of Fjallbacka and the town's past, and tear aside its idyllic facade, perhaps forever.

About the author: Born in 1974, Camilla Lackberg graduated from Gothenburg University of Economics, before moving to Stockholm where she worked for a few years as an economist.

However, a course in creative crime writing became the trigger to a drastic change of career. Over 1 million copies of her books have been sold in her homeland, with all four titles becoming Swedish No 1 bestsellers and occupying the bestseller charts at the same time. She lives in Stockholm with her partner and three children.
