Who said scientists can't dance?
Video Competition for chance to win $1,000 USD
"Dance Your Ph.D." video competition is inviting applications from anyone who has a Ph.D. or is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in a science-related field to transform their research into an interpretive dance and submit it for a chance to win up to $1,000 USD.
Finalists from each category will have their Ph.D. dance videos screened at the Imagine Science Film Festival in New York City. This is your chance to prove to the world that scientists CAN dance!
Imagine Science Films Mission Statement
Imagine Science Films is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to promoting a high-level dialogue between scientists and filmmakers. ISF encourages a greater collaboration between scientists who dedicate their lives to studying the world we live in and filmmakers who have the power to interpret and expose this knowledge, ultimately making science accessible and stimulating to a broader audience.
ISF is commited to drawing attention to the sciences, whether it is through art or our community outreach efforts. One of our goals is to provide grants and programs to benefit filmmakers whose work focuses on accurate science and accurate portrayals of scientists, such as the Imagine Science Filmmaker’s Fund and The Film Lab, two initiatives which we hope to implement in 2010, depending on community support.
We also aim to promote scientific knowledge among the population not in the sciences, and to encourage those interested in becoming a part of them. In short, if ISF had a six word memoir it would read:
ISF serves science and the community.
