Original Creative Writing: Will Elliott
'A darkly original new arrival on the Australian fantasy scene ... well
worth a look' Australian Bookseller and Publisher on Pilgrims

PILGRIMS

Will Elliott

From the bestselling author of The Pilo Family Circus comes a stunning

new fantasy, more real than you can imagine ...

Will Elliott's debut novel, The Pilo Family Circus, was published after
winning the ABC fiction award, beating 900 entries from across
Australia. Once released, it won a slew of awards including the Aurealis
award for best horror, the Golden Aurealis for best novel and The Sydney
Morning Herald Best Young Novelist Award for 2007. His critically acclaimed
second book was the darkly humorous, insightful and searingly honest first-hand
account of his journey through schizophrenia, Strange Places.

Now this prodigious young writer is following his heart and making a
foray into the world of fantasy. Combining Elliott's reputation as a
powerful novelist with his love of fantasy writing, Pilgrims is the
inventive first book of his remarkable new Pendulum trilogy.

'HarperVoyager is thrilled to be publishing this leading young
Australian writer. Will's literary credibility was firmly established
with the stunning The Pilo Family Circus and this new fantasy trilogy

showcases his talents. Will uses the best aspects of the genre to shine
a light into shadowy spaces and reflect universal truths'

About Pilgrims:

Eric Albright is leading a normal life until a small red door appears
under a train bridge near his home. Then a ghostly being wakes him in
the dead of night, with a message from another world: You are Shadow.

In Levaal, the world between worlds, the dragon-gods grow restless in
their sky prisons, and the Great Spirits struggle to contain them. Vous,
the world's Friend and Lord, simmers in madness as he schemes to join
the ranks of gods. He and the Arch Mage have almost won their final
victory over the Free Cities. A dark age dawns.

But Eric and his friend Case are now Pilgrims, called to Levaal for a
battle more ancient than the petty squabbles of men. And they will learn
why some doors should not be opened ...

Praise for Will Elliott:

'Elliott has a fine instinct for impending doom, claustrophobic
helplessness and breathtaking twists of action'
The Australian

Praise for The Pilo Family Circus:

'The Pilo Family Circus is an excellently coherent act of imagination.
It's funny, violent and full of bizarre characters ... The plot is full
of wonderful grotesqueries and unfolds at a cracking pace ... I was
enjoying reading this book so much, I forgot I was meant to review it'
The Sydney Morning Herald

'The novel, with its elements of fantasy and horror, stands firm as
wholly original'
The Age

'Peopled with memorable freaks and packed with punchy surprises, it
marks Elliott as a writer to watch'
Good Reading

'Elliott is to be congratulated for the risks he takes ... The Pilo
Family Circus displays an adventurousness that is all too rare in
contemporary Australian fiction'
